It's Hot

Man oh man is it hot. Yeah, I know it's hot everywhere, but I still want to complain. I think summer is my least favourite season.

We had planned to drive to beautiful Athens, Ontario for the Farmersville Exhibition this past weekend, but we decided it was just. too. hot. to walk around outside with little shade looking at steam-powered machinery, even if they do have beef-on-a-bun and that awesome made-while-you-wait lemonade and homemade fudge and donuts. And tractor pulls. So we hung out at home, and then decided in the late afternoon to drive to Niagara Falls. It wasn't quite as close as we thought it was -- Lake Ontario is big and right in the way -- but the drive was pleasant. The kids liked the falls but didn't enjoy the drive so much. But it was fun.

Other than that, we're going out to parks in the morning, doing a lot of sitting around and reading or taking baths in the afternoons, and going out to libraries and malls and other air-conditioned places.

i hate hot. hot leaves you helpless. i hate sticky, sweaty, choky, headachy and can't-sleepy, too. i hate when my clothes feel like that styrofoam cooker thing mom uses, like my legs are baking inside them. skirts are my friends. not denim skirts, though. we're going to the local amusement park tomorrow with friends (not skirts.) how does one keep an eight-month-old cool in the hot sun in an amusement park? maybe i'll take a spray bottle of water.
