It's Really Done! (Installment 3)

We are, yet again, celebrating the completion of Rob's Ph.D. We celebrated it for the first time when he sent off the six complete copies of his thesis for his defense board. Our celebration that time consisted of handing FedEx $117 and feeling fidgety for days. The second celebration came after the thesis was successfully defended and Rob said goodbye to Queen's forever. We had dinner with Michael (thank you, Michael) and hung out with family (thank you, family) and felt fidgety afterward. This week, Rob sent off the final, typo-corrected, laser-printed-on-fancy-archival-paper final copies of his thesis for binding. We are celebrating by throwing out all of the old copies of it, and all of the extra copies of the illustrations, and all of the extra paper that has accumulated over time. (We will attempt to make it up to the trees.) Also, by giving money to UPS (much more reasonable, unaccountably) and feeling fidgety. We plan to celebrate again when the actual letter of completion arrives (2 weeks,) and again when the bound copy arrives (8 weeks,) and I hope that's it, because by then I will have felt fidgety for way too long and I will celebrate the end of feeling fidgety by cleaning my house and feeling relaxed for a brief time. Who knew that the end would take so long? We have lovely snow and icicles at long last, and I'm glad. Winter is OK by me.
